Wisdom and Insights from Bradley Binversie
Do you want to base your game on hope or habit?
That was one of the questions basketball coach, Tom Desotell, used to always ask his players. He understood a very important lesson, “That in times of great adversity, all people revert back to their habits.” So when great adversity hits, do you want to base your performance on the “hope” that you’ll know what to do. Or do you want to base it on your habits.
As everything Coach Desotell taught, this is a lesson for life and particularly our spiritual life. Most people believe that “You must believe, before you practice your faith.” I’ve come to learn that it’s the reverse. You must practice, to grow your belief. Only through regular practice will we develop the habits of relying on God when adversity hits in our life (which it will). So the question is do we want to base your life on hope or habit?
