What We Believe

  1. Many of the mental and physical health challenges that people face can be proactively treated through regularly shared physical activity. This builds the body, mind, and deepens our relationships in ways few activities can.

  2. Life is Hard.  Difficulty should be embraced not avoided.

  3. The Importance of Play.  There should be enjoyment in our lives. Hyper productivity can actually be unproductive.

  4. Nature is where awakening happens, because it is larger than us and one of the few things we cannot control.

  5. The deepest bonds will be built when we go through difficulties together that call us to a shared, higher purpose.

Our Story

We started as a small group of friends exchanging wisdom back and forth. This was the genesis of the Wisdom Platform and Best Life List. A few alarming patterns and problems emerged that convinced us to explore new ways to evolve beyond just wisdom and into health through experiences.

  1. Traditional Healthcare is reactive, not proactive.
  2. Very few adults are building deep and meaningful relationships.
  3. People feel more bombarded with noise and information than ever before.
  4. People feel more lonely and isolated than ever before. More people are seeing therapist and report their mental health as poor.
  5. More people are using pharmaceuticals for depression and anxiety than ever before. Allegedly 25% of all women in the US are taking an SSRI.
  6. Men are definitely struggling. Male suicide and drug use have increased. Less men are going to college, dating, ect.
  7. Family Formation and child birthrates are down.
  8. Obesity and sedentary lifestyle is up.

*We believe many of these are symptoms of the same few problems.

Our Solution: Life Care

The research that is continuing to emerge screams what everyone already knows deep down in our core. We need deep relationships. We need to do hard things and be challenged. We need purpose. We need to be physically active together.

The research overwhelming indicates that most of the mental and physical health challenges that people face can be proactively treated through regularly shared physical activity in nature, particularly those that challenge us. This builds deeper relationships as well as strengthens our minds and bodies in ways few activities can. This is the foundation for Exclusivia Experiences.

This is proactive, Life Care, which is how real healthcare should be.

Will doctors prescribe experiences instead of drugs?…..Knowing what we now know about the way experiences produce neurochemicals, it does not seem too odd that in the future we’re going to start seeing doctors or psychologist perscribe experiences.”– Steven Kolter, author of the Rise of Superman

The Research and Inspiration

There are more and more sources that support our conclusions but we wanted to highlight a few of the many authors, doctors, psychologists, and neuroscientists who inspired our thinking, including but not limited to: Sebastian Junger, Dr. Gino Collura, Joe Sulak, Steven Kolter, Abigail Shrier, Richard Rohr, the research studying the Blue Zones, and many others.

Quotes
“Humans don’t mind hardship, in fact they thrive on it; what they mind is not feeling necessary. Modern society has perfected the art of making people not feel necessary. It’s time for that to end.”– Sebastian Junger, Tribe: On Homecoming and Belonging.

“We all need a Golf game, whether we play golf or not…I’ve experienced next level connection when I’ve done something physical with a person… surfing, rock climbing, biking. The shared connections are deeper than anything else.”– Joe Sulak Zen Ascent

“Go do something physically hard, preferably outside, with other men. That’s the first thing I tell any man who wants to be a better husband and leader.” Dr. Gino Collura, Husband Strength

“Knowing what we now know about the way experiences produce neurochemicals, it doesn’t seem too odd that in the future we’re going to start seeing doctors or psychologist perscribe experiences...5 weeks of surfing twice a week, was more efficient in treating PTSD trauma than medication.” -Steven Kolter, author of The Rise of Superman

Deep meaningful friendship only occurs between two people when they share a transcendetal 3rd. Something they care about deeply.– based on the teachings of Aristotle

“Initiation ceremonies used to exist to teach young men 5 key truths.
1. Life is hard.
2. You’re not that important
3. Your life is not about you.
4. You are not in control.
5. You are going to die.”

-Richard Rohr, Adam’s return

“All Blue Zones have two things in common: physical activity and deep relationships.”

Disclaimer

We do not claim to have all the answers and are not saying that medical treatment does not have it’s place in the world. It definitely does. But what is becoming more and more clear is that experiences that combine shared physical activities will undoubtably build deeper relationships and improve people’s mental and physical health. To us this approach of proactively changing your lifestyle to make yourself happier and healthier just makes sense.
